Lamu Foundation is an indigenous Community based organization based in Lamu County, Coast region of Kenya with its head office at Lamu island along Kenyatta Road, behind Masjid Raudha.
The Foundation was formed by local men and women who were committed to improving the living standards, assisting towards maintenance, improvement of the natural environment and advancement of culture and education to achieve excellency at all levels in the community.
The Foundation forms the basis for networking with other civil society organisations both at the Local and international level to creat a resource centre and a forum platform for discussion; exchange ideas on problems affecting the community. In that attempt, the foundation is determined to creat an enabling environment in which people defined by the same cultural background will foster greater social cohesiveness, economic prosperity and political empowerment. For every effort, the foundation has presented a well organised structure for community engagement and leadership. This will help revive, protect, motivate, educate, empower and develop the Member's in the dignified spirit of community development.
Lamu Foundation is fully committed to fulfilling its responsibility of abiding by the goals and ethics of its creation, in cognizant of the law's of the land and the aspirations of the community that defines our relevance in the greater society that is Kenya.
